first and foremost... lola bella turned 5 this month! i am so glad to have her with me and am loving introducing her to my friends here. she makes me feel at home.

two weekends ago, i got to experience cma fest for the first time! we headed downtown around 1pm and spent the afternoon at the river stage listening to all sorts of artists play... for free. that's the best part about cma fest. all the daytime concerts are free and the only thing you need tickets to are the big name artists that play at LP field each night.

after a torrential downpour, and 10 hours at the honkey tonks, we decided to head home. it was such a fun day!

this past sunday, a whole gang of us headed about 45 minutes down south to duck river.  we packed the coolers in the canoes and set out on our 5 mile journey. IT WAS SO FUN! there were 16 of us in 8 canoes. it took us about 5 hours to make it down due to the fact canoeing wasn't actually the first priority. it was a beautiful day and i couldn't be more thankful to have found a great group of friends here already. i am blessed.

today my sweet english bully turns 4 years old! she is spending the day at the barker lounge - the coolest doggie daycare in charlotte. they snapped this picture of her and posted it to facebook - i busted out into laughter at my desk.

 

i realized this morning that i don't talk a lot about lola on here much which is weird cause she's like my child. english bullies require a lot of care & attention, but it's totally worth it. she makes me laugh everyday & i can't imagine what life would be like without her!

 

so happy birthday to my baby girl - you will be getting a doggie cake from canine café when i get home! 

what a week!

it has been a busy week in my world, but an awesome one at that. some highlights include...

1. my sister's birthday! court turned 26 on tuesday - we are getting old! since court & i now live together, i got to make her birthday morning a little extra special.

{my best attempt at making this recipe. it certainly isn't as pretty, but it sure was good! my store bought flatbread was a little too big for this, so i may go with a pizza dough next time.}

we celebrated both of my sister's birthdays (leigh's was last week) on tuesday night at the ever so fabulous blt at the ritz.

2. lola had her annual vet visit & she hated every second of it. then i continued the torture & made her get a bath at the dog salon. this is a neat place in plaza midwood that has self-serve dog washes & also grooming services. meet tater: a fellow english bully that has pink hair!

3. got in two great runs & pulled myself out of bed for 6am yoga this morning & tuesday morning. 

 

 

4. last but not least, i hung these shelves in my room all by myself! i'm probably a little too proud of this, but it feels like a big accomplishment! i spent some time looking around for the right shelves and found these at lowe's for about $13 each. the assembly wasn't too hard, although it did require a phone call to my stepdad, per the ususal. i love them!
